Troop 321 - Saginaw, MI

Welcome to Troop 321

Troop 321 was organized in November of 1965. The Mackinaw Middle School Parent Teachers Organization chartered it. In November 1967 the charter was transferred to Second Presbyterian Church. The first Scoutmaster was Bernard J. Carey Jr. Summer camp has always been held at Camp Rotary, north of Clare, Michigan, in the Uncle Otto campsite.

Since the beginning of the Troop we have had groups of Scouts go on several high adventure trips. Two groups went to Sumner Canoe Base in Ely, Minnesota. Two groups went to Tinnerman Canoe Base in Ontario, Canada. We have had two groups of Scouts go on a 34-mile backpacking trip in the Porcupine Mountains in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We have had a 50-mile Foot and Float trip. We have had a group bike across Michigan on the 45th Parallel. We have had a group sail to the North Channel on the Prevailing Winds Sail Boat.

We have also had Scouts attend the last 3 National Jamborees. We have had three Scouts attend the World Jamboree: one in 1995 in the Netherlands, one in 1999 in Chili, one in 2003 in Thailand. We have had Scouts attend Philmont Scout Reservation for 70-95 mile backpacking trips in 1996 and 1998 and 2 Scouts attend the National Junior Leadership Instructor Course at Philmont Training Center.

We have had 3 Scouts participate in the Order of the Arrow Trail Crew at Philmont. We have had Scouts attend the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC), including two who served on staff. Four Scouts from the Troop have been Lodge Chiefs for the Order of the Arrow. Many have served on the ceremony team and held leadership positions in the Chapter (District) and the Lodge (Council).

Please feel free to take a look around. Thanks for visiting.
