Den Chief Training

Before you register … Read the following carefully and be certain that you understand the prerequisites.

This is a 6 hour course held in conjunction with the University of Scouting.   During the day participants will cover all requirements for Den Chief Training and the Disabilities Merit Badge.  Participants must attend the full day course. 

The fee is $17.00, which covers course materials, Trained Patch, Den Chief manual, and lunch. 

The date is Saturday, January 28, 2012, and the location is Standish Sterling Middle School.  Registration opens at 7:30, the Opening Ceremony is at 8:30 in the Gym, and class begins at 9:00.  Class ends at 3:50, and the Closing Ceremony will run from 4:00 to about 4:20

The course is open to all Scouts and Venturers.  However, to serve as a Den Chief  you must be First Class or above.  Uniform for the course is your complete Scout field uniform - Scout shirt, Scout pants, necker and woggle, and appropriate patches.

You must be pre-registered for this course.  Walk-ins will not be permitted.  Click below to register using the Den Chief Training registration form.  You will not be able to register using the University of Scouting registration form.

Course Pre-requisites.  A large amount of material will be covered during the course, and participants must be able to give their full attention.  You need to prepare for the course and your Scoutmaster needs to be aware of your intentions.

1.  Go to here and take the 30 minute on-line Den Chief training.  This will prepare you for participation in the course January 28th.

2.  Talk with your Scoutmaster or Crew Advisor, tell him/her  you want to attend this training, and request his/her approval.     

3.  When you have received that approval, ask him/her to provide you with a Merit Badge Card (Blue Card) filled out for the "Disabilities" Merit Badge.  His/her signature must appear on the front of the card.  Bring this card with you to class.
