Shoreline District Spring Camporee Wrap-up
Over 100 Scouts spent the weekend at the Pinconning Park for the Shoreline District Spring Camporee.  They earned over 170 Historic Carpentry and Signaling Merit Badges.  Scouts used hand tools to build a small shelf.  They learned how to clinch a nail, use a plumb bob, and lay shingles.  They sent and received signals with flags, lights, and sounds.  The dots and dashes of the Morse Code could be heard all day.  Aruba , Italy , Bulgaria , Sweden , Serbia , and Russia were a few of the places contacted by ham radio.  The Scouts scoured the park for trash as a service project.  A campwide cracker barrel was held after Vespers.  Each troop brainstormed to create a unique treat with a random set of ingredients that included cheese (such as mozzarella, cheddar, and of course, Pinconning).  What would you do with apples, honey, and parmesan cheese or pretzels, cheese chunks, and chocolate chips?  The evening concluded with a cold wind off the bay and skits around a warm campfire.
