Serving the Youth of Northeastern Michigan

Help us soar into space at the best 2010 Jedi nation day camp the Cub Scouts has ever dreamed of!

We are looking for Boy Scouts between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age. To be den leaders, program assistants, and even event leaders. How can you become a part of this? Easy, fill out the youth application and turn it in by June 1st of 2010.

Dates that you would need to be available: June 21st-26th.

Monday the 21st we would start at noon to set up all the program stations and various other things.  At 4p.m. we have a MANDATORY staff meeting.  We will pass out assignments, go over some rule; (yes, even space has to have rules); and staff shirts if your paperwork was in by June 1st

Tuesday the 22nd. The first official day of camp we will start our day at 7:30 am. We will go over last minute questions and the daily set up of stations.

Wednesday the 23rd.  You can sleep in just a bit.  Report at 8 am.  This is inspection day.  The accreditation team inspects the camp.  Yes, we ask for your best behavior today, not that you don’t give it every day.  We also have an after camp activity; to be determined; so some help is nice.

Thursday the 24th.  8am today too!  We will only have a half day of regular programs.  Then we will have Round Robin, six new space themed activities for the cubs.  Some of the program areas can be packed up today.

Friday the 25th.  You can really sleep in!  Report time is Noon!   We have Olympics today, three events that the dens compete in.  We will grill hot dogs and enjoy a meal with everyone.  Then we have a campfire program where the cubs get to perform the song or skit they worked on.  Day camp officially ends at 8pm.  Some of you may stay for family camp. There is a charge of $10.00 pp.  The cubs and their families are invited to spend the night.  We will have a snack and perform a flag retirement.

Saturday the 26th.  Breakfast at 7am followed by packing the tents ups.  The cubs will enjoy a few more activities and then camp closes at noon. Help is needed after noon to help pack up the trailers and clean up the grounds.  We are usually finished by 2pm.

Every day after camp we walk the grounds and pick up any trash, break down the tables, and set up the den boxes for the next day.  Once is this finished we have a staff meeting to talk about how the day went.  We are usually done by 4pm.

You will have to provide your own transportation to and from camp every day.  Bring a lunch and water bottle with your name on them.  Wear your camp staff shirt or your class a uniform. This year we are asking for the staff to pay for part of their shirt.  The costs are $5.00 for the first and $10.00 for extra shirts up to lx then add $1.00 per x. You may dress as a space character if you wish as long as it is approved first.  Please make sure that you and your shirt is clean every day.  It does get hot.

Volunteer/community hours are available for school.  If you have a up to date CPR card please bring a copy of it on Monday. You will need to fill out an application, staff agreement and parts a and c only of the health form.  All forms are available at www.lhacbsa.org  Please send apps to: Kim Mateos, 1792 Evelyn Dr. Essexville, MI  48732 or email to [Click for member's page]
