The Scouter - LHAC e-Newsletter - April 2010
Welcome to the E-Scouter of the Lake Huron Area Council! Our new website will host a monthly newsletter in place of the printed version. We are excited to come into the century of technology and serve our families better.
Scouting for Food bag drop off will be April 17th and Scouting for Food bags will be picked up April 24th. Our Scout Oath includes the promise “…to help other people at all times.” And the Boy Scouts of America vision statement contains a goal focusing on serving America’s communities and families with our quality values-based program. Scouting was founded on the principle of “do a Good Turn daily.”
"I know I’m loud and I talk alot, but I’ll match anybody in the three E’s: excitement, enthusiasm and energy.” No one can question Dick Vitale’s success with the three E’s. As we look at the attrition rate and loss of Scouts in our traditional programs, maybe we need our leaders to show the three E’s: excitement, enthusiasm and energy!
This year at Resident Camp we will “Race to New Destinations”. Along the way each scout may be faced with challenges, make new friends and develop some skills. Our program areas include archery, BB guns, science, knot tying, nature, swimming, boating and much more.
Cub Scouts and Webelos, come and celebrate our freedom as we honor our heroes. As American citizens, we have a lot to be thankful for, especially our freedom.
That’s right! Our very own lodge is hosting this year’s section conclave!! Plan on attending NOW during the weekend of April 23 – 25, 2010.
Completion of the Cub shooting sports training program will allow the participants to operate or assist with the operation of BB gun, archery, and sling shot ranges at district and council cub events.
Paul Bunyan's Big Swedes are a group of dedicated volunteers who work for the betterment of our camps. Find out how you can be a Big Swede Today.

The following boys have earned their Eagle Scout award from March 17, 2010 to April 20, 2010.
Words too often inadequately express the sentiment we feel at the death of a friend or the joy we feel when a friend is honored with a special recognition. No finer tribute can be paid than to encourage a boy to live the life of a Scout. A contribution to Lake Huron Area Council Memorial/Tribute Fund is the perfect tribute. It will be put in trust so that it continues to give in perpetuity.
