Recharter 2002: Units that do not recharter on time risk disrupting their insurance coverage, their tenure, their ability to have Eagle applications processed, purchase awards or register for events. If you have questions about your recharter, please call your commissioner or Jim at the Scout office. Do not wait until the last moment! If you have questions, please call!

Scouting for Food 2002 details will be forthcoming at the Roundtable meetings.

Roundtables are provided to all Scouting leaders so that you can provide the best possible program to your Scouts. Come to roundtable on the second Tuesday of each month and learn program ideas, games, songs, skits, and other tips to help your unit run smooth. The location is at Zion Lutheran School, 1707 S. Kiesel, Bay City.

Shoreline District is pleased to announce that Scot McKinnon is this year’s recipient of the District Award of Merit. The Award of Merit is the highest award a district volunteer can receive. This award is based on criterion such as Scouting tenure, leadership, and community service (in and out of Scouting). Scot is the Cubmaster with Pack 3108, is an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 108, and is highly active on the District and Council levels with training, the summer camping program, and is a general go-to guy. Please congratulate Scot on his achievement.

FOS 2002If you haven’t already, please schedule your FOS presentation today. Please call Jim at the office.

Boy Scout Lock In 2002The Boy Scout Lock-In will be held on March 16th at Saginaw Valley State University’s Ryder Center. Details will be coming at Roundtables.

D.E.’s Minute: I was so busy with the rest of the Shoreline Appreciation Banquet details that I forgot that there was a D.E.’s minute and was flustered when Mike Buda called me up to the microphone for it! Here is what I would have said: Thank you to all of our volunteer district leaders and unit leaders for all of their hard work in 2001. You make all the difference in the world to our young people.

Special thanks go out to Jean Moreau for all of her tireless (and at times, overtired) work with the district popcorn campaign. Shoreline District had an increase in total popcorn sales due to her efforts. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who helped sort popcorn. Sorting the product first made pick up day run smooth. Thank you to Joanne Goodman for her many years of service for the district Scouting for Food campaign. Thanks to both the Cub Scout and Boy Scout Roundtable staffs for making the Roundtables fun and educational. Thank you to all of those Cub Scout and Boy Scout leaders who helped with various district events throughout the year. There are many others who contributed to Shoreline District’s success in 2001 and I am personally very grateful to all of those leaders as well. . -- Jim
