Celebrating Scouting Anniversary Week
Thank You, Volunteers!

As the Boy Scouts of America celebrates its 93rd birthday on February 8, we commend the countless volunteers who have donated their time and energy to instill timeless values in the lives of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturers. The invaluable lessons taught to young people in Scouting are made possible only through the unselfish sacrifice and caring of volunteers.  We'd like these volunteers to know how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication to the youth in our community and nation. Thank you for keeping Scouting strong and effective for 93 years.
If Scouting's 1.2 million registered adult volunteers gave only one volunteer hour per week, they would give 62.4 million volunteer hours per year. Two volunteer hours per week would equal 124.8 million volunteer hours per year. However, we know Scouting's volunteers donate significantly more time than this. Through your actions you demonstrate the philosophy that, for our children, love is spelled T-I-M-E.
You obviously understand the old adage "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." For more than nine decades, good people like you have taken the time to use the Scouting program as a remedy to the social ills America's youth face. You have helped save them from the dangers of drugs, gang violence, teen pregnancy, vandalism, and more. Thanks to your contributions, thousands of youngsters have gained the personal values, self-confidence, and leadership and life skills to help them grow into strong role models for the next generation.  Thank you for being a part of our dynamic team of volunteers who make a difference in the lives of America's youth. They are the faces of the future.

What's New at Camp This Year

Projects just completed or in progress on this list cost in access of $200,000.  When you support the Friends of Scouting campaign and the popcorn sale, a significant portion of your investment pays for these improvements, which keep our two great camps as first class facilities for the Scouts and Scouters of the Lake Huron Area council.  Thank you for your support.  We hope to continue to add to this list of camp improvements.
