The Area 2 Project Update

The Area 2 Project is underway! For those of you that were unable to attend your district roundtable in the last 2 months, you missed the opportunity to hear what the buzz is all about.
Over the past 3 years we have seen a dramatic change in our economy here in Michigan. Subsequently, we have seen population declines, resulting in less youth, adults, finances and participation in Scouting in Area 2. Our area leaders recognized this and approached the BSA National office with the proposal of developing a new structure for the delivery of Scouting in Area 2. This will be developed over the next 9 months with the goal of presenting a plan to the Central region leadership in September. The reorganization and development of new ideas is in the hands of 7 task forces within specified areas and will report to a strategic planning committee to combine these ideas into a workable form.
All of the activities of these task forces including the members names, minutes of the meetings, action items, etc. are posted on the Area 2 Project website. This is where we all can stay up to date on the developing thoughts and direction of the process.
This is the beginning of a new era in Scouting for Michigan (and the greater Toledo area). LHAC is well represented on virtually all committees and we were challenged to "dream big"! We have the opportunity to redesign a program that will excite and involve our youth, engage and keep our leaders involved and make Scouting more fun while we are given the chance to deliver the values of Scouting to another generation. I encourage you to visit this site often and each committee has a link to make suggestions. Positive ideas are always welcome - negativity takes us nowhere that is useful, so don't waste your time with purely negative statements. Be part of the solution.
