Eagle Scout Court of Honor

The Lake Huron Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is conducting its 16^th Annual Eagle Scout Court of Honor to recognize those young men who have distinguished themselves by achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout during the past year.

The event will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010, 2:00 p.m. in the Griswold Communications Center on the campus of Northwood University (click here for campus map).  This is a magnificent facility and sets a prestigious stage to honor these 124 young men.  A reception with light refreshments will precede the event. 

This year’s class is in honor of Joseph James (Jim) Brozzo.  Jim is a retired Chemical Engineer from the Dow Chemical Company.  Jim is a long time Scouting volunteer and has been president of councils in Connecticut and Michigan.  He is an Area Vice-President and is currently a member of the Lake Huron Area Council Board.  He has held staff positions at 3 jamborees, has been a course director at Philmont Training Center and co-chaired a seminar in Irkutsk, Siberia attended by adult and youth Scouting volunteers from the United States and Russia.

Again this year, we will have a special recognition for the Eagle Class, past Eagle Scouts event sponsors, and a new recognition for Eagle Scholarship Donors. 2009 Eagle Scouts will receive a special Eagle Scout Council strip at the event with the option to purchase a second one for $10. (There is a limited supply of extra 2009 CSP’s, first come, first served).  All Eagle Scouts can purchase a different Eagle Scout Council strip for $15.  Proceeds from the $10 and $15 Eagle Scout Council strip sale will help fund future Eagle Scholarships in the Lake Huron Area Council. Currently, the Council provides two $500 Eagle Scout college scholarships, and the Council Commissioner’s staff provides two.  We hope to increase the scholarship amounts to $1000 each in the future.  The scholarship form can be found by clicking here.

Event sponsors contributing $100 will receive an Eagle Scout sponsor Council strip as a thank you in addition to their name listed in the keepsake program, and their contribution will help defray other costs related to conducting this very special event. You can also sponsor an Eagle Scholarship for $500.  Enclosed you will find an Eagle Sponsor/Contributor and RSVP card.  If you would like to sponsor a scholarship at $500, one or more of the Eagles at $100 per Scout or would like to purchase an Eagle Scout CSP at $15, or an additional 2009 class Council strip at $10, simply fill out the attached form, enclose payment, and mail or deliver to the address on the card.  CSP’s will be distributed at the event or mailed after the event.  Click on the link below to RSVP for the event, sponsor an Eagle Scout or to print the CSP order form.
