Camp Stewards
The mission of the Camp Stewards program is to bring together people who genuinely care about the future of the young people we are entrusted to care for in the outdoor setting. Camp Stewards is an outstanding opportunity to have a voice in how our camping dollars are spent and also to help plan for the future of our 2 council camps. Our council’s youth are blessed to have two Nationally Accredited camps which offer a remarkable experience unique to each camp. As you can well imagine, properly maintaining and developing our camp properties takes not only dollars, but a “pride in ownership” that reflects both the importance of the summer camp experience to our Scouts, and also a vision that we must keep our camps available to our Scouts now, and for many years to come.
The Camp Stewards meet annually in April for lunch at our respective camps to discuss how the dollars donated to this fund will be spent in the coming year. The Camp Stewards work very closely with our camp Properties Committees, Camp Directors, and Council Properties and Camping Committees to best decide the direction that camp program, operations, planning, and expenses will take. This year’s meetings will take place on Saturday, April 17, at 9:00 am at Camp Rotary and Saturday, April 24 at 9:00 am at Paul Bunyan Scout Reservation.
Please consider this your invitation to become a Camp Steward. The goal of the Camp Stewards program is to raise $100 or more per member annually as restricted funds for both large and small scale projects at our camps. In addition, Troops, businesses, service clubs, and other organizations are also invited to become Camp Stewards for gifts of $500 and up. During our lunch program, each Steward will be able to cast a vote as to what projects will be funded from this year’s available Camp Steward funds. We are hopeful to raise at least $10,000 from individuals and organizations in 2010 for our camps!
Please be reminded that 100% of the funds donated will be used for projects specifically designated by the members of the Camp Stewards committee at each camp. This is your opportunity to make a difference in our camps. Please feel free to share this invitation with anyone else you know who might be interested in supporting Camp Rotary and/or Paul Bunyan Scout Reservation. It would be great if you could invite a friend who would be willing to join you in becoming a Camp Steward.

This program is meant to supplement, not replace, your support for Friends of Scouting or other support for Scouting as this funding is vital to keeping Scouting a strong presence in our service area.
