The Heart of the Community Award was given to the Paul and Kim White family, which volunteers with the Arc of Midland to help people with disabilities and is involved in Boy Scouts. The award recognizes a group or individual who has demonstrated a passion for serving the community through volunteering.
“Paul and Kim are committed to investing in our future by serving as role models in the community,” emcee Tom Steel said, adding their four children are following in their footsteps.
Paul White said the family relies on three things: Faith, the Boy Scouts’ 12 core values and inspiration from others in the community.
“We believe in modeling and we’re trying to look at what you’re doing and follow it,” he said, noting the giving spirit of the community.
