Philmont Scout Ranch 2013

Adventure awaits Scouts at Philmont Scout Ranch.  Could you handle 10 days of hiking in the mountains of New Mexico?  If you think you have got what it takes?

The Lake Huron Area Council is sending a contingent to Philmont Scout Ranch in July of 2013.  Imagine backpacking in the Sangre de Cristo mountain paradise of Philmont.  Test your skills in hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, advanced outdoor skills, fishing, and much more.  The contingent will arrive at Philmont on 7/12/13 and depart on 7/24/13 after spending 10 days of adventure in the backcountry. (Additional days for travel will be required – usually 1-2 days on either side of trek dates) 

COST:  The final cost for the 2013 trek will be determined in the Spring of 2013.  The estimated cost will be $1400 which will include:  transportation to and from Philmont, the Philmont fee, most meals, a special LHAC Philmont shirt, and training costs.

AGE REQUIREMENTS:  All participants must be at least 14 years of age prior to January 1, 2012, OR be 13 and have completed the eighth grade before the start of the trek in the summer of 2012.  For Venturers, females may attend if a female adult 21 or older attends. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

ADULT SUPERVISION:  Mandatory 2 adults with each crew.  (One may be 18 years old)  (Maximum 4 adults per crew group, youth have priority over adults)

CREW SIZE:  We have a total of 24 spots (2 Crews) reserved for this trek.  A crew is 7-12 members.

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED:  A $100 deposit is due by April 1, 2012 (85% refundable until July 1, 2012) to reserve your spot for this unforgettable experience.
